Health Care Fact: Democrat Health Plan Allows for Abortion

The Majority Party has said that abortions will not be covered by federal funding as part of their health care overhaul bill.  Yet there are approximately 40 Democratic Members who know it is not true and are attempting to amend the bill with pro-life Members of Congress to prevent the largest expansion of abortion in history.

The Democrat bill allows for the inclusion of abortion services offered by a government-run plan and requires at least one insurance plan in the new Health Insurance Exchange to offer abortion services.  Further, the bill does nothing to prohibit the public funding of abortion and will actually allow subsidies to flow to plans that include abortion.

It is my hope that in the end the health care bill will prevent taxpayers from paying for abortions.  I will support every effort to prohibit the use of federal funds to fund abortions for Americans.
